A TRIP: We travel to set up a new Missionary apartment in Jyvaskyla.

A New Apartment in the Mission.  We are growing like other missions and adding a few more new ones these days...  We were asked to travel by van to open up a new missionary apartment.  We purchased  a lot of items from IKEA and Prisus Department Store and hauled them for about 4 hours.  We stayed overnight.  They included a desks and office chairs, a pink couch, dining table and chairs, washer, microwave, lamps, kitchenware, etc. etc. to furnish this new apartment.  This is what it looks like after we furnished it.  They three sisters moved in the next week.

The van was packed really full.

Dana was cargo for a while as we tried to haul everything, but she liked it.

Helsinki Tour and Settling into Finland and the Mission Field

We are off to a great start.

The Senior Missionary Conference was held for 3 days in Helsinki and all came from far and wide to attend and be taught.  This is our little group.  Here we go onward and upward to get things done and done right in Finland.

Dana is waiting at the trolleys stop jut outside our apartment which is a short ride to downtown Helsinki. We needed to orient ourselves to the city and find our way around by trolley.  Trolley are really nice and new and the cost was 2.60 Euros to ride..
At the outdoor market, I found a little costume for one of my grandchildren to wear in a play...
There are many vendors selling their stuff in a flea market booth setup.  It costs the 14 Euros for the day to sell at a little booth here.

In this building is the food outlets and we have grown to love one of the places where they have a delicious shrimp salad.
Missionary conference.  We cooked.  They ate.  And it was good.

Helsinki is a harbor and many boats, Ferries and ships are come through here...Big ones and little ones.
 The Tori (Outdoor Market)
The fox fur was about 20 Euros from one lady...
Finnish Architecture is such that every building of importance and some with no importance, have a sort of "Hat" on the front corner...More "Hats" to come....
The big, highly expensive department store is:  STOCKMANS...downtown.

The tourist site in Helsinki is the lutheran "Cathedral.  It is a must see.

Transportation is everywhere.  Buses, trolleys, cars...trains.

We bought some new chairs for our apartment at the local DI type place.  Dana found her place here in the back of the van.  Great for travelling, except there is no seat belt there.

In our living room, Elder Thelin is ready for church.
The Helsinki, Finland Temple on a rainy day.

The view from our apartment window in Helsinki at 10:30 pm, as we get ready for bed, but the days are fast getting shorter...  Good Night.
See the little hat on the top of many of the local buildings....?  Probably the architects felt that the buildings would get cold during the long winters.  They need hats.

The old Lutheran church we can see the top of from our window... Beautiful
Evening is coming on this little hat..

Can you see it?  I love hats!
